My BMW G650GS motorcycle already has a power accessory outlet from the factory, using the Powerlet standard. The outlet is located underneath the left side of the top cover, pointing downwards. Here’s how I installed an additional Powerlet jack to power more accessories.
The goal was to add a second practical and safe power outlet, which could be used while the motorcycle was in motion. I planned to mount the new Powerlet outlet low and to the side, plus use a right-angle plug.
I chose a panel-mounted Powerlet outlet with an internal fuse. The internal fuse holder was carefully mounted on the frame under the seat.
It took a quiet afternoon to disassemble, measure, drill, install, and reassemble the motorcycle top cover with the new Powerlet connector. I am very pleased with the results!
